Technology Is Making Item Upgrade Better Or Worse
WoW Upgrades - The item upgrading Upgrader
Upgrades can give you boost in certain statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of the Item level upgrade by +3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.
Upgraded gear generally sees higher trade value, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to keep your equipment up to date.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item, however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item level upgrade owners for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will show the preview of an item's next upgrade level when there are enough materials.
The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item level upgrade is upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.
A lot of locations offer upgraders for items which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and a possibility of obtaining the latest recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded, and can be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require various methods that are both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will cost less, even when they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade item is reduced also, but is only available when certain milestones are reached.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW players have a few options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that the crests can only be purchased for gear of a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the kind of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through content at the appropriate level. This could be done by engaging in outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-level gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty to obtain endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
Using these new currencies isn't too difficult, but the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest level possible on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
Another significant change is that crests only have one use, so it's important to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top equipment you have and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to avail the discount for all accounts when all slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
