Item Upgrading Explained In Less Than 140 Characters
World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like crit chance and PvE Damage.
If the weapon's upgrade template ends in %, it will be able to gain 3percent of its previous damage for each time it is upgraded.
The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the item's current level. The cost rises with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons and trinkets to provide a stat bonus or extra effect when they're used. They can be acquired through crafting, buying from vendors trading or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot for them; the item must be at a minimum upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be used. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment and some of the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear from the ascended, or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item upgrader kit it is applied to (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions of the item using the smallest amount of Upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level using normal methods.
A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defense attributes of a weapon or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be created at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades are available for purchase them from the cash shop or getting them from enemies while upgrading other gear.
Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher tier version of the item will be available in the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their gear even in the event that they don't know what can be improved upon an update.
The process of upgrading an item could be costly, and it is possible that the item will eventually become obsolete, or even break, if the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items to double or even eliminate possibility of failure, as well as some upgrades that provide an additional benefit when they are inserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade components that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of all nodes in their radius, including pre-existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in numerous ways. We suggest upgrading them as soon as possible to level 15.
In the final game you'll find that the Best item upgrade way to improve your gear is to place Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded directly to level 15 and provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to get higher nodes faster.
Glyphs, the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and then replaced with no restrictions are the most commonly used. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.
Each Glyph has a certain range of values it can improve a stat by. The value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can decide to replace it with a Glyph with the same rank or a higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the glyph.
Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase them with certain tools that are unlimited in use as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
When you have the desired Glyphs You will have to attach them to your gear. Each Glyph will grant a distinct bonus that can boost a particular set of stat nodes within a radius around the Glyph. Based on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Glyphs increase the number of nodes connected to them, therefore it is best to put Glyphs in strategic spots on the Graph. This will increase the impact. Druids, for instance, should place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also want to consider placing them near their most critical damage nodes.
Leveling
The item upgrading system allows players to increase the effectiveness of specific items by putting upgraded components in them. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum level of 385. Each level of an item upgrade requires various components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.
Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or bought from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to level up the item. Once enough are earned, the upgrade can be claimed and any additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When an individual player improves the equipment they have, the base item will be replaced with the new item level upgrade. The same armor can be transformed into a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item will have a unique bonus. This could be a drawback in that the item could be more expensive even if you do not require it.
Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens to be able to do this. This causes the item to be traded for a new one, with an initial level and a totally different set of bonuses. This can be useful however it should not be repeated often since it can waste resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times, increasing their value and allows the player to modify their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants a buff if the player continuously enters or leaves the water. This can be upgraded several times, each time raising the maximum roll by a factor of 10. This item is extremely valuable in PvP as an item that is properly rolled it can be worth between 20 and 50 times its value if it is not upgraded.
Requirements
The ability to upgrade items allows players to boost the level of their available gear--armor, weapons and trinkets above ilvl 385--by providing the appropriate currency and items to an NPC that upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also improve the strength of their base defense and weapon upgrades items increase their base damage and also increase their strength and dexterity.
All items can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Every time you upgrade an item, it is given an opportunity to fail. The rate of failure increases as you exceed the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures can cause the item to return to its original state and the player having to spend additional resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.
If an item isn't upgraded, the experience bar in the bar for growth will be reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it gained like chances to be crit damage to attack, additional effects (such as an increase in healing over time, or reloading speed). However, the user can still continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.
When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that if a weapon receives a crit chance boost it will be applied prior to any damage to attack increases. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is calculated each time an upgrade is made.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item are based on its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading equipment that is not premium is equal to the value of the base item. For example an item level upgrade of common use could have five upgrades at a cost of. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items have a lower cost per upgrade.
Premium items may have different upgrade requirements than regular gear. For example they may require less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. Whatever the case, players will have to visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko in Central Flarine. Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. Each upgrade to equipment requires different amounts of ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the expenses listed above.
