The ability to upgrade items allows players to upgrade their weapons and equipment with new affixes, increasing its stats base or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.

Upgrade components

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system differs from the previous versions in a few key ways. Gear is now classified into tracks and each item can be upgraded as many times before it's "leveled out."
