Upgrades can increase the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also boost extra bonuses such as damage from PvE and crit chance.

Components

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot for them; the item must be at a minimum upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be inserted. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a kind of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and Ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging gear from the ascended, or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may include a suffix or prefix, modifying the name of the equipment to which it is used (for instancefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions using less upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level using standard methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. Glyphs

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without any restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.

Each Glyph has a certain range of values can enhance a stat by, and the value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a different Glyph of the same rank or a higher rank, which will increase the value of the glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use as well as through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the numerous Glyphs, and there are also a few rare Glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Leveling

The item upgrade system allows players to boost the stats of specific items by introducing upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item has an amount that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires various components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained from finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab in the crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns some Technology Points. These points can be used for upgrading an item. Once enough points are earned you will be able to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When a player improves the equipment they have the original item will be replaced by a new item. This means that the same armor piece will become a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also has its own set of bonuses. This could be a drawback in that the item could be more expensive even if you do not require it.

If the player has enough tokens, they can roll the upgrade of their item. The item will be replaced by the same Item Upgrader Mod; King-Wifi.Win,, but it has a level 1 basis and totally different bonuses. This can be beneficial, but should not be repeated often since it can be a waste of resources.

Certain upgrades can increase their value, allowing players to customize their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides a buff if the player repeatedly enters or exits the water. This can be upgraded several times, each time increasing the max roll by an increment of 10. This item is very important in PvP. A properly rolled version can be worth up to 50x the value of a non-upgraded counterpart.

Requirements

The item also loses any bonuses it has gained like crit chance, attack damage, or other effects (such as a higher healing rate over time, or reloading speed). The player is able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.

If an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied in order from lowest to highest. This means that, if a weapon gains an increase in the chance of crit, the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute called Slots has been added to the definition of the item and the value is calculated every time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined by its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The upgrade cost for non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a standard equipment item could have five upgrades with a cost of 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Opportunity. Hero grade items have lower costs per upgrade.

Premium items have different upgrade requirements as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they might require fewer sowels, but they will require more minerals and erons.
