20 Things You Must Know About Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item by +3. A random extra substat is also added to every upgrade.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as valuable for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrades upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of armor or weapons. However, the item used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your equipment. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every several weeks.
The cost of upgrading will be based on the current level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that are used to upgrade weapons and tools, armor and accessories. They can be bought by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will show the item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the item slot, and the current item level upgrade level. For instance weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an Best item upgrader has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currency types.
Many locations offer item upgraders which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and the chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a benefit and a drawback.
In Season 3 the upgrade items system has been altered a bit, with some new features added. Once the player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This applies even if those items are from another set of equipment.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut as well, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.
Crests
Players have a variety of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests can only be used on equipment that is of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests depending on the type of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in any difficulty to earn equipment of lower tier or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and paths.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it does bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For example, once an item is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all of their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another notable change is that crests only have one use, so it's important to make use of them in a responsible manner. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount for the entire account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
