The Roomba j7+ is iRobot's smartest robot vacuum to date. Its most significant advancement is an obstacle detection system that makes use of built-in AI to detect objects such as charging cords, shoes, and the pet waste that many other robots are unable to avoid (and often plough right through). It's the first robot to provide you with pictures of the objects that it encounters, so you can instruct the robot to stay clear of it.
The Combo j7+ is also the best robot to mop we've ever tested, removing dirt and spills with ease while leaving no trace it was there. The iRobot app makes it easy to control. You can schedule cleanings and create Keep Out Zones so that it doesn't vacuum in areas you don’t would like. It's compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant so you can start it and stop it with a voice.
Its design is superior to the rest, with a sleek top piece that looks more like a toy robot than a loud, obnoxious one. And the Clean Base automatic floor cleaners Dirt Disposal System automatically empty and is ideal to speed up cleaning.
In our tests the j7+ was quick to clean up dust dirt, pet hair and even pet hair. Its counter-rotating rubber brush rolls kept the debris in one spot rather than sending it scattering across the floor. It even was able to capture sand and small gravel that other robots aren't able to do. It did this without getting caught in our pet's hair.
The j7+, while not as intelligent as the Roomba S9 for $1,217and Self-Emptying Vacuum Robot from iRobot and can't clean the stairs, is a good option for those who want both mopping and vacuum. It's not expensive and the IRobot app makes it user-friendly.
The iRobot Home App is easy to use, but we found it less reliable than other robotic bot cleaner apps. It can take some time to download updates, and it can be difficult to know whether they're working until you see them in action.
2. Roborock Q5+
If you're looking to purchase an automated vacuum cleaner that can do more than just clean floors, the most effective option is likely to be one that is a hybrid. This kind of robot usually comes with a built-in tank for water which means they can vacuum and mop your home simultaneously. They also have a range of additional features, such as smart mapping, small obstacles avoidance, and the ability to wash and dry mopping pads. The downside is that they tend to be expensive when purchased at full retail price, but on Black Friday and Cyber Monday they usually drop in price.
Roborock makes some of our favorite robotic vacuums and the Q5+ does not fail to impress. It's their cheapest auto-empty model, and although it lacks some of the features you'll find on higher-end models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's still an excellent option if you're willing to sacrifice a bit to save hundreds of dollars.
The Q5+ is remarkably soft when it comes to obstacles like table legs and walls. This makes it a great choice for homes that have a lot of furniture. It's also very thorough in cleaning dust bunnies. This is a place where many robot vacuums that are less expensive do not excel in. The Q5+'s navigation system is top-quality, with a few misses along walls or in corners.
The Q5+, just like other Roborock products can be controlled with a few buttons on the device or through the Roborock App. Through the app, you can begin and stop cleanings and schedules, as well as create virtual barriers and no-go zones and adjust your home map, or re-label rooms.

It's a small base station that looks beautiful and is able to be concealed when not in use. The station's most appealing point is how it automates various tasks and functions that other robots leave to you. It can store clean and dirty water and also electrolyze and warm the water. Most other robovacs will require this.
Its vacuuming capabilities are also impressive. It's one of the few robovacs I've tried that does very well at picking up debris on unfinished floors, and it's not as loud as the more expensive Roomba 980 or iRobot 900 series.
The Freo X Ultra is not free of faults, especially in the area of navigation. Its laser and LiDAR sensors aren't as reliable as other robovacs. This means it sometimes gets stuck or confused in certain rooms or corners of the home. It's also not able to climb stairs like other models and isn't equipped with a docking station to create a cleaning zone for carpets with plush padding.
The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a great option for those looking for a robot vacuum that does everything.
If you're looking to save money or aren't concerned about the limitations of the robot, there are alternatives available. Many of the eufy models cost considerably less. The Eufy Qrevo Curv, for example, is cheaper and offers a similar in-app experience with additional features such as stair climbing, a full-function dock, and superior overall performance when vacuuming floors and low and high-pile carpets.
4. Eufy RoboVac G30
eufy is an Anker company that has a long history of creating robot vacuums that have the right combination of features, performance and price. The G30 Hybrid offers a powerful cleaning of hard and carpet floors, as well as a mopping function for a low cost. It's easy to set up by snapping one of the side brushes on, switch it on and plug in the charging dock. The app will guide you through the steps to connect your G30 to your Wi-Fi. It is recommended to keep the dock close to an electrical outlet and enough space to allow it to move around, however.
The G30 is a small device, measuring 2.85 inches in height, which means it can fit under most couches and low-clearance pieces of furniture. Its design is a little less flashy than some of the rival models, and features sleek black finish and three physical buttons that control Auto Cleaning, which can be paused or started. Recharge and Spot Cleaning (which cleans the area in spiral patterns for 2 minutes). It is also possible to connect the G30 with amazon robot vacuum Alexa or Google Home to use voice commands to do routine cleaning tasks that are not scheduled.
The main feature that distinguishes the G30 above the rest is the method it cleans. It uses an integrated map to draw a picture of the immovable items in its path. It remembers the items it has cleaned and where it cannot access. If it requires a recharge, it returns to its base and resumes cleaning where it started.
The elegant G30 has a few flaws. The iRobot Roomba 675 is much better built, incurs lower recurring costs, is charged faster and offers similar battery life, while providing better performance on floors with no carpet and carpets with low pile. It comes with a larger dust bin, which doesn't require as much emptying. It also has boundaries that prevent it from certain areas. The G30 is more affordable and simpler to maintain. Its smaller dust canister doesn't require as frequent emptying and is less prone to suffocating bulky materials such as cereal.
