The stats of an item are improved through upgrading it, which is also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment results in an increase in linearity of any stat.

Glyphs

Glyphs are a powerful tool for communicating visual information. They move to catch the viewer's attention and spur curiosity in the brain. The glyphs' animation mimics the body language, making them more effective in communicating an inter-linguistic message. Glyphs also create a sense of familiarity in the brain, thereby increasing retention of the message.

Each glyph increases a stat's value by a certain amount. This is clearly displayed on the item's page when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is not the actual amount at which the glyph will increase a stat, but the maximum amount by which it is able to do so. The value of the glyph will depend on the tier as well as the quality of the product you are enchanting.

The majority of upgrade components that are slotted into items are not able to be replaced or salvaged without removing the gear in question, except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If you do have an unusable rune or glyph that has not yet been incorporated into your equipment, you can transfer it to a different piece equipment by using the Upgrade Glyphs context menu in the Glyphs panel. Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens can be used to change the affixes on equipment and weapons. They can be obtained from various sources, including mysterious boxes and rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Each reroll token grants the player a new random affix that is usually better than the original one. Reroll tokens can also be a good option to reroll stats on weapons that can be upgraded to provide better damage or other perks.

Items that have been rerolled do not appear in the upgrade menu, but they are still eligible to receive upgrades. These rerolled items are able to be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button, which changes the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to recycle. Recycling an item adds small amount of points to its gauge of level.
