Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting its stats base or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, a player has to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.

Typically items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base while objects with strong bases, such as eth titans do not vary significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, giving an attribute bonus or extra effect while the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, retrieved as loot gathered by enemies or obtained from chests or missions. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.

To upgrade an armor, weapon or other item in the game, players will need to select it and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected upgrade statistics will be and also the element or material required to complete the upgrade.

There are three kinds of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, are able to be used in any kind of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment are similar to jewels but provide larger bonuses and cannot be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, will add their names to the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding the word Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If a player upgrades a gathering tool, and then replaces glyphs with another glyph the previous one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component will damage it, except for the inscriptions that can be swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant differences from earlier versions. Gear is now broken down into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before they're "leveled out." The cost of upgrading is increased with each level however the materials required do not increase as much. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a handful of key items and maximize their impact, instead of spreading upgrade costs across multiple pieces.

This allows the item to receive upgraded components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is called the Artisan’s Energy and it resets at 0 if the upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its highest level it is able to gain affixes which will enhance its capabilities. The amount of affixes available is determined by the item's type. For instance an uncommon or exclusive weapon that has a standard base will only have two affixes, while a legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade will require a certain number of Flightstones and crests based on the item's current level and the slot it's in. In general, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.

If an item upgrade is not able to attain its maximum level The NPC will offer the player the option to transfer it to a different character and then re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. This process takes up to two hours and will cost the same amount of materials however it will have less chance of success.

Engineers will utilize a level to compare the height of the building against an established point, like a benchmark. This process is called a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high level of accuracy and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a very important part of the game and can boost an item's damage, strength, or other attributes. You can do this via the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item. Rerolling an item upgrade can be costly and should be handled with care.

Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another item of the same type. Recyclable items have an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and upgrade cost of the item.

In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes that made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you'd get the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns, and control impaired duration reduced stats or the weapons' bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.

This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for each stat. This can be either good or bad, depending on what you want and need from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can be equipped with a special, fixed-value bonus that increases its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are rolled in addition to the standard affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the higher your chance of getting an exclusive bonus.

The game also includes various sets which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are placed on an item. This is a great method to add a lot of power to a particular character without spending an excessive amount of money.

Many players reroll their weapons and gear, especially in the early stages. Rerolling is a way to create a more powerful character faster, which allows players to advance in the game and achieve higher levels.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be set up differently. They can be of various sizes, contain no elements at all, or contain just one element. They can be used to organize data or sort information. They are also useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be categorized in a variety of ways, including by size and shape.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides an extensive selection of set items that can be upgraded. Certain items are worth upgrading, while others aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets that offer high defense values and set bonuses. However, most upgrades to weapons do not boost the stats of the item upgrades when as compared to their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you already have lots of weapons or armor pieces already.

Set items can be upgraded to include special functions that are beneficial for specific builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).

Upgrades can also be done to bring certain items to par with the tiers. For instance the Immortal King set has a large level range, between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower-level items can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.

To see if an item is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button on their screen for their character. It will show the item's attributes, along with the items needed to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth face for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to see the upgrade requirements for specific items.

In general, armor and weapons have a higher trade value when fully updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have spell/weapon-damage glyphs. This will bring about a significant improvement in their stats. This will also boost the defense of armor with a newer appearance.
