Undeniable Proof That You Need Robot Vac
Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency at which you have to manually vacuum. Select a vacuum with good navigation, is able to clean corners and stairs, and that has a large bin that will need to be emptying every so often.
There are models that can mop and charge themselves this is an option that is essential for families with children or pets. Many of the best performers in our tests have excellent ability to overcome obstacles.
1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its sibling, the i3 EVO are both identical robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. The i3+ is an excellent alternative for those who want a an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the dust bin when it is full.
Both robots are proficient at removing surface dirt on floors and carpets and can maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean efficiently. However unlike the i7+ and other top highest rated robot vacuum robots we test the i3+ does not have a feature for avoiding obstacles which means it can get stuck on things such as socks or power cords and may have issues navigating across surface transitions, such as from hardwood to rug.
iRobot suggests that you clear areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, which includes clearing out any toys or clutter it may encounter. It is also recommended to keep the dustbin and filters free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station’s external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning where it started. The battery's lifespan is around an hour-and-a-half of continuous usage. It takes about three hours to charge.
2. Roomba from iRobot
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and is equipped with the most recent features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and -- the most important feature of all -- it has an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any self-cleaning robot vacuums vacuum.
The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, which allows it to create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot using voice or through the app.
The i7+ is quicker and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from any surface including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin, which removes major maintenance sources and reduces the cost of maintenance.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions, move itself around the room and sweep the area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. When connected we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a world of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's got the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in many households, but it also fits in well next to a coffee table or on a bookshelf where you can move it around like a magic wand.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then lets cleaner air into your home. Its specialized cleaning head drives bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpet to suck up large particles and fine dust. It comes with three suction settings to suit the task being performed. It quickly switches from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum and back again.
This model also has docks that charge to 100% in 3.5 hours and provides an easy access to two attachments as well as a clip for a wand. This is a significant improvement over earlier Dysons, which require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.
The main drawback of the V10 is its short run time. As CR's tests show, its marketing claims of up to 60 minutes are not true. This is an average, not an exceptional, run time for a battery-powered cordless vac. It's still enough time to clean most of a home that's average size however, it's not enough to clean every area (though the second time around usually can be effective). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is significantly better on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have lots of money to invest in the latest model of affordable robot vacuum. It was able to remove all kinds of debris and sizes in our tests, and frequently went over the same area many times for a thorough clean. The flat front of the unit allows it reach into corners and along the walls' edges and walls, which is a nice addition.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and navigate your home. However, it lacks the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, like our top picks, i3+EVO and J7+ Series. It may get stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and often runs out of power before returning to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694 because it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower cost of recurring costs and is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and can better maneuver itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.
The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries strips and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It also feels more sturdy and has a stronger motor, and performs notably better on both bare floors and low-pile carpet, while offering a wider range of features for automation.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a well-known brand in the field of home electronics. It's no surprise, then, that they are also among the top producers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The app offers a variety of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, such as virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior adjustments docking frequency settings and more. The app is easy to learn and use similar to other Samsung devices.
In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and cleaned up 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). However, it wasn't particularly well in avoiding larger objects, like cords and socks, which was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than some of the other models we tried which could be a deterrent for certain shoppers.
The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that you can access through the app, and you can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you to monitor your pets or children while you're away. The filter and the dustbin can be cleaned for an easy, quick clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with a self-emptying clean station, which helps to keep the robot's bin clear and maximizes suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. They come with a wide cleaning path as well as a large dust bin that can hold 2X more debris than the competition to keep the cleaning area free of debris for the longest period of time. Additionally, they come with two side sweepers to clean up around edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model comes with AutoSense technology, which senses if it's picking up dirt on surfaces or embedded dirt and then automatically adjusts its power level. It also comes with a smart app that lets you see the virtual map and control functions and schedules. Plus, you can monitor the vacuum's battery status and return it to its dock to charge by pressing a button. The app allows you to customize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum to determine where it is focused or if it has gotten stuck.
The app also makes it easy to manually steer the robot should you need to. My living room rug for example is darkly colored which could cause a problem for other robots. However, the HRV 425BL kept moving across the border, without registering it as a cliff. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving advantage.
