Robots aren't quite as adept in removing debris like metal screws or pieces of pasta. However, they are great at cleaning pet hair, dust and crumbs. The best models have intelligent navigation technology that can help them avoid cords, toys, and other household obstacles.
1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO is a great robot vacuum that comes with a range of smart features that make it more easy to maintain than many competing models. The automatic bin emptying feature is among the best features we've ever seen in a robot vacuum. It works well on carpets as well as hard floors. It's also easy to install and use with the app that guides you through the process step-by-step. Another notable feature is the ability to return to where it was when we tested it. It did this for 77 mins on one cleaning before running out of battery.
Unlike some of the other robovacs we tested, the i3+ EVO has self cleaning vacuum-emptying bins that dump debris into an external dirt compartment on its charging base when it's filled. This helps reduce the need for hands-on maintenance and also helps prevent the i3+ EVO from overfilling, however it still needs to be manually emptied after every cleaning session. The i3+ EVO dustbin can hold 2.4L that will last for four to five cleaning sessions.
The i3+ EVO, just like the i7 uses state-ofthe-art floor-tracking sensors to create maps. It also allows you to navigate through neat rows. The i3+ EVO can only keep one map, whereas the i7 can store multiple. The i7's map is used to create virtual barriers and no-go zones but not for the i3+ EVO.
Although the i3+ EVO is more effective in picking up surface debris than some of the other robovacs we reviewed but it's not the best budget robot vacuum Vacuum for the money; peatix.com, in terms of cleaning edges and corners. It's also less gentle on furniture, despite being fairly quiet. It pushed chairs away from walls and made some collisions with the sides of our test bed, and it got stuck on cords and toys while testing.
2. Black & Decker Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro is an excellent option, whether you're expanding your collection of robot vacuums, or just getting started. It has an elegant design with a powerful navigation system, as well as effective automation at a reasonable cost. It's the best combo vacuum value for the money on the market currently and even beats other Roborock models which are much more expensive in a variety of ways.

And the well-designed base station almost fully automates the cleaning process. It also provides impressive obstacle avoidance and navigation.
This model utilizes a dToF internal LiDAR sensor to identify your home's location, and create efficient cleaning routes. The iMop awed us with its analysis of coverage and navigation efficiency and was also good at eliminating obstacles, like furniture. It also has the ability to find its way back to the base station which is a nice feature in case it is unable to recharge its battery during a cleaning session.
The spot cleaning mode allows you to clean a particular space on your floor robot. It can also be programmed to follow a specific path, which is useful if you have narrow hallways or stairs. In our carpet cleaning test it did a good job cleaning carpets. However, it had a difficult time to clean rugs and carpets with thick piles.
