WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also added to each upgrade.

The upgraded gear typically has a more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as important for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every several weeks.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item however they'll always be cheaper than buying new gear. For example upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through item upgrader kit upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade item is able to be used on any tool, weapon or armor. The button will show a preview of an item's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and current item level and the weapon's price is higher than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. After an item level upgrade has been upgraded to a certain amount it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of obtaining an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no item upgrader available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a particular level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading other items to that same item level will cost less even in the event that they belong to an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain achievement milestones.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW players have a few choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific upgrades to the level of an item. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests can only be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade can require up to 20 crests, depending on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing content at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulties to get lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons that have a high difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests can be exchanged with an item upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and routes.

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it does bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, once an Best item upgrade is at the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests with care, since they have only one purpose. For instance it's a good idea make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to benefit from the discount for all accounts when all slots are full of high-quality gear.
