Upgrades to items are an essential part of gearing up your character. Upgrades boost damage to items and enhancements.

They also offer bonuses and improvements. The Blacksmith can sell them to you.

The upgrade button can be found on any Best item upgrade. Each recycled item adds one level to the gauge for upgrading.

Weapons

When a weapon is upgraded, it receives an initial damage bonus as well as an increase in the scaling factor that affects other stats. Some upgrade components have cosmetic effects and others provide additional features. These upgrades can be inserted into weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, and they generally require the equipment to have an available upgrade slot and meet certain specifications. The upgrade component can be removed from the weapon, armor, or trinket, but it cannot be replaced. (Except for legendary equipment). Upgrade components can be retrieved using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, Ascended Salvage tool, or high-tier salvaging tool that is attached to an item.

In addition to the normal upgrades, a weapon may be upgraded by adding the Calibration Attribute which improves certain stats like Weakspot Damage or Crit Rate. This can be done through the Gear Workbench's interaction menu. This can be done four times based on the weapon's level.

After the weapon has reached its maximum upgrade and is then rebuilt to add additional bonuses and effects, or to improve specific stats. Several of these upgrades can be re-applied at once, and the effects are based on the rarity of the weapon.

Two Blacksmiths can perform these upgrades in the game: Blacksmith Iji on the Road to the Manor Site of Grace and Smithing Master Hewg at the Church of Elleh hub. Both require different upgrade materials: Smithing Stones for standard weapons and Somber Smithing Stones to alter the damage that a weapon inflicts.

In general, it is advised to improve weapon damage first, then armour defense, and then the other secondary stats that are required by your build. Armor

Item upgrades allow players to enhance the base stats of certain armor pieces, weapons, trinkets and gathering tools. These upgrades can also give additional effects, for example, more damage or a cosmetic enhancement. Item Upgrades are available through crafting, buying from NPC vendors, through loot drops or as rewards from quests.

Armor can be upgraded by visiting the Armorer NPC and spending appropriate currency. Most of the time the armor will be upgraded to the next tier once an upgrade is applied. Most armor types can be upgraded, however some items (such as the starter armour in Great Sky Island) cannot.

The majority of armor upgrades boost the item upgrade's strength or defense by just a little. However, certain upgrade components can provide significant improvements in strength or defense, particularly when upgrading an item that is epic.

In addition to increasing the base defense of an item upgrade, some upgrades also give special abilities that can be activated while wearing a piece of armor. These abilities can be beneficial in combat, for instance giving a boost to attack speed or blocking. Certain upgrades can have effect that are passive and can be useful like decreasing damage when wearing armor or enhancing the chance to dodge an attack.

Depending on the type of armor being used, upgrading an item can require multiple attempts. For example, if a player wanted to upgrade the strength of a Steelclash armor to Dragonscale the first attempt will result in a brand new piece of Dragonscale with a base defense between the ages of 59-67. The second attempt would result in a new Dragonscale armor that has an initial defense of 67-77 and so on.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild allows players to upgrade their armor sets to level 4. To do this, players must visit the four Great Fairy Fountains found in the game. Each of these locations contains a powerful fair who can upgrade a piece of armor for you.

Potion

The magic of the enchanted Scepter appears to influence the dungeon by increasing the probability of generating water and grass. At its current level this trinket makes X% of the floors become filled with water or grass but it doesn't affect enchantments, the glyphs, cursed weapons, armor, or items that are created to aid in the elimination of hazards.

While it appears like an ordinary eye of a newt, this mystical item seems to affect your vision in ways that go beyond just reducing your field view. This trinket, in its current level, increases the health gained by drinking potions of healing and wells of life by X% and grants mind sight on enemies within the Y tile. This does not stack with the Heightened Senses.

Skull Cavern is where you will find Trinkets after you've completed the Mastery Cave. You can find them by defeating Monsters and in chests and crates. They are not found in the Mines or Volcano Dungeon.

Place the trinket in the Anvil when it needs to be upgraded. This will have an effect on the trinket that is random and will either increase or strengthen its effects. You can reuse the trinket as often as you like but it will always be able to produce an effect that is new.

You can also upgrade your Trinkets at the Alchemy Station by placing them into a Magical Catalyst. This will cost 6 energy, but increase the trinkets power by a tiny amount.
